The article «The legal nature of the extension of the monopoly patent right to a medicinal product» authored by Aleksey Zalesov, Managing Partner of «A.Zalesov & Partners» Patent & Law Firm, was published in the «Patents and Licenses. Intellectual rights» magazine No. 6/2022 (in Russian).
The article considers the reasons for the appearance in the law of a legal mechanism for the extension of a patent for a medicinal product, examines the main issues of regulating the extension of a patent related to a medicinal product and describes the approaches used in the extension of pharmaceutical patents in the US, the European Union and Canada.
