On May 05, 2022, the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the US Department of the Treasury issued General License No. 31 which approved certain relaxations in the sanctions regime. In accordance with the document, certain transactions related to the protection of intellectual property in the United States and in Russia are authorized, namely:
- Filing applications to obtain a patent, trademark, copyright or other form of intellectual property protection; prosecution; obtaining patents, trademarks, copyrights or other form of intellectual property protection and renewal thereof;
- Participation in patent and trademark disputes as a plaintiff or defendant.
