The annual Summer School, organized by the Chamber of Patent Attorneys, was held at the «Volna» Hotel and Boarding House in Svetlogorsk, from August 3 to 8, 2026.
The patent and law firm «A.Zalesov & Partners» was represented by Ivan Istomin, Head of Design Group, Daria Kushnarenko, Senior Associate, and Yulia Kolomytseva, Senior Associate. Our colleagues were pleased to participate in the educational and cultural events.
This year, the following questions were chosen as the main topics for the lectures and seminars of the Summer School:
Compensation as a way to protect IP rights: innovations in Russian legislation and case law;
Design protection: Key Trends and Issues in case law;
Assessing the patentability of a design: RU PTO examination practices and the legal positions of the IP Court;
Procedural aspects of IP dispute resolution. Issues in the development of mediation as a dispute resolution method;
Legal protection of trademarks identical to copyrighted objects. Protection of IP rights to a trademark and copyrighted object.
Ivan Istomin presented a paper on «Assessing the patentability of a design: RU PTO examination practices and the legal positions of the IP Court», analyzing case No. SIP-511/2025. Darya Kushnarenko presented a paper on «Legal protection of trademarks identical to copyrighted objects. Protection of IP rights to a trademark and copyright object», analyzing case SIP-62/2023.
