From September 24 to 27, the 3rd All-Russian Tourism Congress «Gates of the Russian North» was held in Kirov. Organized by the Vyatka Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the regional Tourism Development Center as part of the national project «Tourism and Hospitality», the event brought together leading industry experts.
Irina Ozolina, Senior Partner, held a seminar on «Promotion, Protection and Use of Regional Brands», which attracted maximum attention from participants thanks to its perfect balance of legal theory and real business cases.
The following issues were at the center of the discussion:
- Legal mechanisms: what is the difference between Appellation of Origin and Geographical Indication and which one to choose for a specific business;
- Economic impact: how local goods are transformed into national symbols (case studies of Vologda Butter, Gzhel, and Tula Gingerbread);
- Anti-piracy strategy: judicial practice of suppressing unfair competition;
- International potential: rules for protecting regional brands outside Russia;
- Typical risks and mistakes: the dangers of trademark monopolization and the pitfalls of registering them.
We thank the congress organizers and participants for their high level of professionalism and lively interest in the presentation!
