Commentary by Julia Kolomytseva for Attorney’s Newspaper regarding the Law on the Development of Creative Industries

On October 07, 2024, one of the key events in the field of intellectual property in 2024, took place in Moscow - the fourth Patent Congress, held by the Russian National Group of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI).

An article by Maria Makhlina entitled «New Approach to Prosecution of the Computer-implemented Inventions and Utility models introduced into RU PTO Rules provides long-expected Clarity for the IT Market» was published in the newsletter of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property AIPPI as of September 2024.

On February 05, 2025, Federal Law No. 330-FZ of August 08, 2024 «On the Development of Creative Industries in the Russian Federation» will come into force. In this regard, the Attorney’s Newspaper asked lawyers, including Julia Kolomytseva, for an expert opinion.

On 20 August 2024, the Arbitration Court of the Primorsky region issued a decision refusing to bring to administrative liability the client of «A.Zalesov & Partners» for infringement of a series of trademarks for lack of confusion despite some similarity.

On 12-14 September 2024, Voronezh became a venue for the traditional Legal Forum of Masters, which gathered over 900 participants from more than 20 cities of Russia and the nearest foreign countries. Irina Ozolina moderated the «Patent Wars and Other IP Disputes» section.

On September 18, 2024, the Russian government approved the amendments to the Regulation on patent and other fees for legally significant actions related to intellectual property objects. The amendments will come into force on October 05, 2024.
