Legal protection of three-dimensional trademarks: comments of the Senior Partner at «A.Zalesov & Partners» Patent & Law Firm Irina Ozolina for Garant.ru portal

On September 23, 2025, the Russian Government adopted Resolution No. 1459, which introduces significant amendments to the Regulation on Patent and Other Fees in relation to the procedure for calculating fees for trademark examination and renewal.

On September 24, 2025, the Moscow Arbitration Court dismissed an inventor's claim against the company operating the «SberZdorovye» telemedicine service to protect his patent for invention. Irina Ozolina commented on the court's decision for the «Attorney’s Newspaper».

The annual AIPPI World Congress was held in Yokohama from September 13-16, 2025. Aleksey Zalesov, Irina Ozolina and Maria Makhlina actively participated in the congress as part of the Russian group.

On September 11-14, 2025, Legal Forum of Masters traditionally took place in Voronezh, bringing together vast amount of participants from several Russian cities. The team of «Zalesov, Timofeev, Gusev & Partners» participated in two sessions – on tax law and biolaw.

A third party filed an objection to the issuance of a patent belonging to the client of «A.Zalesov & Partners» for an invention related to a composition for regulating sexual activity of small domestic animals. Rospatent upheld the objection and invalidated the patent in full. «A.Zalesov & Partners» filed an appeal with the IP Court to invalidate Rospatent's decision.

On September 09, 2025, the Moscow Arbitration Court ruled to grant a client of «A.Zalesov & Partners» a compulsory license to use patents protecting compounds and compositions for the treatment of chronic viral hepatitis C. This allows the client to start manufacturing and commercializing its own medicinal products and improve the quality of life for patients with chronic viral hepatitis C.
