A meeting of the Eurasian Patent Organization's governing body, the EAPO Administrative Council, was held in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, on October 14-15, 2025.
The main outcomes of the meeting were:
- A decision was made on the EAPO's accession to the Geneva Act of the Hague Agreement. The EAPO will become a participant in the international system for registering industrial designs.
- Indexation of certain fees. The new fees will apply from February 01, 2026.
- Clarification of the provisions of the Patent Regulations under the EAPC concerning the examination of inventions and industrial designs. The new provisions are aimed at eliminating uncertainty regarding the application of the author's discounts and the sequential filing of several divisional applications, as well as at improving the quality of examination. Applicants will be able to extend the validity of an industrial design patent for individual designs specified in the application, and third parties will be able to file invalidation acts against a Eurasian patent during an unlimited period.
- The EAPO will become a party to the Patent Law Treaty of June 01, 2000, which simplifies procedural aspects of patent procedures. The EAPO's regulations are fully consistent with the provisions of this international treaty.
