On November 24, 2022, the second Patent Congress was held in Moscow under the auspices of the Russian National Group of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI).
Leading experts in the field of intellectual property bond together at the event in order to establish a dialogue with representatives of governmental and commercial structures, to popularize and raise awareness of the existing opportunities and tools of patent law.
Russian leading companies in the field of intellectual property took on the role of the strategic partners of the Congress: Gorodissky and Partners, PATENTUS, A.Zalesov & Partners, INTELS, EUROMARKPAT.
About 350 people attended the event in person, the total number of views of all online sessions was about 2300.
Among the topics discussed at the Congress there were:
- compulsory licenses;
- parallel importation;
- trends in the development of judicial practice in patent validity disputes and infringements disputes;
- commercialization;
- patent law under sanctions.
Three round tables were held at the Congress on the following topics:
- fashion and design industry and intellectual property;
- trademarks - topical problems of intellectual rights protecting;
- IP pharma.
In the framework of the event, «A.Zalesov & Partners» Patent & Law Firm held a round table on the topic «Fashion and Design Industry and Intellectual Property».
Representatives of Rospatent and the Eurasian Patent Office were invited to participate, who spoke about the current opportunities for applicants to protect the appearance of objects using the Russian and Eurasian patent systems. In addition, representatives of the fashion and design industry attended the round table, who shared their views and concerns about the protection of their rights.

- Mikhail Novinsky - Member of the Union of Architects of Russia, founder of the MNdesign studio;
- Vadim Merlis - a Russian designer, founder of the «VADIM MERLIS» fashion brand.
As a result of a heated discussion, the parties came to the conclusion that the topic of patenting and protecting intellectual property in the area of design and fashion is not always obvious, but relevant and the organization of such meetings and discussions is necessary for all participants in the process today.
