On November 28, 2019, trademark attorneys of «A.Zalesov & Partners» Patent & Law Firm successfully defended interests of NOVIK Country Club (http://www.mynovik.ru/) in the opposition hearings against the Russian trademark registration 659241 «NOVIK НОВИК» filed on behalf of a renown Russian restaurateur ARKADY NOVIKOV, who had an earlier trademark registration. The Chamber for Patent Disputes of Rospatent declined the opposition of the restaurateur due to the semantic difference of two designations (NOVIK is the name of a famous battle ship of the Russian navy, after which the bay on Russky Island in Vladivostok, where the Country Club is located, was named), and confirmed that there is no confusing similarity between two brands.
